November 09 - Theodore was a Roman soldier and is one of the most famous martyrs of the Eastern Church. He was born in Syria towards the end of the third century. Be careful not to confuse him with the Holy Theodore revered on February 7th, as they are both soldiers and both martyrs.
08 November - Geoffroy or Godefroy d'Amiens was born around 1066 at Moulincourt, in the diocese of Soissons. The third child of Frodo, Lord of Moulincourt and Elisabeth, he was taken in charge at a very young age by his uncle, Bishop of Soissons, who had him educated at the Abbey of Mont Saint-Quentin, near Péronne.
07 November - Ernest is born in Steisslingen, Germany. As a young man he entered the Benedictine monastery at Zwiefalten on Lake Constance. He was director of this monastery from 1141 to 1146.
06 November - According to tradition and the legendary account of his life, written in the 11th century, Leonardo was born into a Frankish family of officers of the court of Clovis at the end of the 5th century. Baptized by Saint Remi, Bishop of Rheims, he had Clovis himself as his godfather, and became a disciple of Saint Remi.
05 November - Zechariah and Elizabeth are the parents of John the Baptist, and we know their stories from the Bible. According to the Bible, they are considered to be descended from a family of priests. They are the parents of John the Baptist, the forerunner of Jesus.
04 November - Charles Borromeo, born in Arona on 2 October 1538. At the age of 12, he received the tonsure and benefit of the Benedictine Abbey of Arona, left vacant by his uncle Giovanni Angelo de Medici, who was Pope Pius IV.
November 03 - Martin was born on December 9, 1579 in Lima, Peru. Illegitimate child of Jean de Porrès, knight of the Order of Alcantara, and Anne Vélasquez, freed black slave. A sister named Joanna was born two years later.
02 November - The Commemoration of the Dead was instituted to obtain from God the deliverance or relief of souls from purgatory. The Office of the Dead originated in the wake of the dead that the first Christians held following the example of the Jews.
November 1 - Feasts honoring all martyrs existed as early as the fourth century in the Eastern Churches on the Sunday after Pentecost. In Rome, also in the fifth century, a feast in honor of saints and martyrs was already celebrated on the Sunday after Pentecost.
31st October - Quentin would have been originally from Rome, sent to Northern Gaul, just like his contemporaries Saints Crepin and Crepinians, in the second half of the 3rd century, to evangelise him.
30 October - Welcome Bojani, born around 1255 in Savogna di Cividale in Friuli, Italy. As a child she already had a great devotion for the Virgin Mary.
29 October - Michel Rua was born on 9 June 1837. He is the youngest of nine siblings. In 1852 he entered the Oratorio of Valdocco. One day, Don Bosco told him that they were complementary. He was one of the first to whom Don Bosco told of his plan to found the Salesian congregation.
At the end of its second General Assembly, held from 15 to 18 October 2024, the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace sent a message to government officials at all levels, as well as to all Malagasy and all people of goodwill.
