24 december - Adele of Pfalzel is the daughter of King Dagobert II. She lived in the 8th century. She marries Odon and gives birth to Albéric who is the father of Gregory of Utrecht, the future disciple of Saint Boniface.
Adèle had a special place in society because she came from the nobility and her genealogy was known by her will. Having become a widow, Adele entered the orders and founded a convent in Pfalzel, diocese of Trier, on her own land and became its first abbess. She also took charge of the education of Gregory, Albéric's son. Adele was very fond of her grandson, but when Gregory was only fifteen years old, St. Boniface came to their home and awakened God's call to be a missionary in Gregory. That is why Gregory became the evangelizer of all Germany.
But today we also celebrate the memory of Saint Charbel Makhlouf.
