15 December - Christiane, or Nina, or Ninon, or even Nune was born in Colastri in Cappadocia. Her real name is not clear but these names were given to her by the people of Georgia because she preached Christianity: Christiane as a disciple of Christ. Nina is a contraction of Christiane, while Nune is an appellation for nuns.

December 14 - Saint John of the Cross in question today is that of the Carmelite Order. His name is Juan de Yepes Álvarez, born on June 24, 1542 in Frontiveros in Old Castile, a city located between Salamanca and Avila. Gonzalo de Yepes and Catalina Álvarez are his parents.

13 December - Lucie lived in Syracuse with her mother Eutychie. Since her childhood she venerated Christ and the Sicilian Virgin Martyr Saint Agatha. Her mother suffered from an inflammation of the entrails and blood loss, without healing for four years.

December 12 - According to tradition, on December 9, 1531, on Tepeyac Hill, a little north of Mexico City, a young lady "dazzling with light" appears to a recently baptized indigenous Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin.

11 December - Damasus was born in 305. He lived in Rome with his family. He joined the priesthood and had a good reputation among priests. Damasus was known as a deacon of Pope Libera, who entrusted him with the position of ambassador to the emperors Valens and Valentinian.

10 December - John Roberts was born in 1577 in Trawsfynydd, a small village in Snowdonia, North Wales. Roberts was baptized in the Protestant faith in the local church of St Madryn but is believed to have received his early education from an elderly former monk who had been a member of the Cymer Abbey community.

09 December - Pierre Fourier was born on 30 November 1565 in Mirecourt. Born into a Christian family, he was the first of his parents' three children. Pierre strictly followed the education he received, namely piety, obedience, gentleness and flight from lies.

08 December - The expression of the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception takes place progressively. Without employing exactly the modern formulation, many Fathers of the Church already express its content in their writings. Subsequently, the Greek Fathers confirm the absence of all sin in Mary.

07 December - Ambrose is said to have been born in Trier in 340, the son of an Ambrosius, prefect of the Praetorium of the Gauls. At the age of 25, like his father, he becomes a high-ranking Roman civil servant in the imperial administration.

05 December - Philippe Rinaldi was born on 28 May 1856 in Lu Monferrato, in the province of Alexandria, in the kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia. A pious child, raised among the Salesians in Piedmont, Philippe Rinaldi met John Bosco, who awakened him to his vocation.

December 04 - John Damascene or John of Damascus, whose real name was Jean Mansour, was born into a prominent Syriac Christian family in Damascus in the 7th century. Until the age of 12, Jean apparently received a traditional education. His father wanted him to learn, not only Muslim works, but also those of the Greeks.

Love and Salvation

Christmas is a great joy, because it is the love of God that has come to us, proclaims Fr. Bizimana Innocent, Provincial Superior of the Salesians Don Bosco of Madagascar and Mauritius, presenting his Christmas greetings. Salvation is accomplished, so life is not in danger of disappearing. It is this love and this salvation that we wish to fill our life so that we have peace.
