July 21 - Victor de Marseille was a Roman soldier, officer in the Theban legion entirely composed of Christians, massacred during the reign of emperors Diocletian and Maximian Hercules in Agaune. Victor, an officer in the emperor's guard, is said to have arrived in Marseille on the occasion of a visit to the city of Emperor Maximian Hercules.

July 20 - St. Peter transferred his apostolic chair from Antioch to that of Rome in order to establish the faith of Jesus Christ. He brought with him several faithful, among whom was Apollinaire. Peter consecrated him bishop and sent him to the city of Ravenna to preach the Gospel.

19 July - He belonged to a senatorial family in Rome. He was ordained deacon by St. Damascus I. Arsene was chosen by Theodosius I to be tutor to his son Arcadius. Unable to overcome the obstinacy of his pupil, and disgusted with the court, he withdrew to the desert of Scété in Egypt.

18 July - Frederic of Utrecht was born around 780. He was sent to Utrecht by his mother, the grandson of the King of the Friesians, and was elected bishop there in 820/826, despite his reluctance, at the behest of the Western Emperor Louis the Pious, with whom he quarrelled a few years later.

Love and Salvation

Christmas is a great joy, because it is the love of God that has come to us, proclaims Fr. Bizimana Innocent, Provincial Superior of the Salesians Don Bosco of Madagascar and Mauritius, presenting his Christmas greetings. Salvation is accomplished, so life is not in danger of disappearing.
