If prayer does not take in the joys and sorrows, the hopes and anxieties of humanity, it becomes a ‘decorative’ activity, a superficial, theatrical attitude, an intimist attitude. We all need interiority: to withdraw into a space and a time devoted to our relationship with God; but this does not mean running away from reality.
