September 1, 2023 — Friday, Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time — Be vigilant at all time and pray, that you may have the strength to stand before the Son of Man — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew (Mt 25: 1-13)
Work must be done in such a way as to take care of both body and mind. If work concerns only the body, it becomes slavery. It is not a question of aiming for wealth on earth but of seeking the salvation of the soul; that should be the priority. Work must not cause anxiety: when there are many things to confuse and overwhelm people, they risk neglecting the Kingdom of God. Catechesis on work, in collaboration with P. August 31, 2023 — Thursday, Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time — Stay awake! For you do not know when the Son of Man will come — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew (Mt 24: 42-51)
The Sabbath is supposed to be charitable and to be with the poor; in the Old Testament, people worked for 6 years, but one year to rest, to care for the poor, that is, the seventh year. Human beings are bound by the necessity of work, so rest helps them to hope for a more fulfilling freedom: the hope of the Sabbath in eternity. Catechesis on work, in collaboration with P.
