28th Sunday of the Year - B : Wealth can prevent you from entering heaven; I will call you friends, says the Lord, because I have told you all that I have heard from my Father. Wisdom and knowledge are not born of man, they are gifts from God, which is why he gives them to all who ask him, especially those who cling to him in prayer. Wisdom and knowledge are the opposite of pride and arrogance, selfishness and attachment to riches. The special nature of wisdom is that it is eternal and immortal...
Before the election of the mayor and councillors, all citizens who are entitled to vote must know their choices. Patriotism is a choice, and the proof is in the choice of foreigners who have the will to develop this country. A good motto to remember is: Progress - Peace - Respect. You don't have to wait until you're in a high position to show patriotism, nor do you have to choose one area. mba ho vanona’ programme in collaboration with General Désiré Ramakavelo.
Letter of Saint Paul to the Ephesians (Eph 1: 15-23)
Brothers and sisters:
Hearing of your faith in the Lord Jesus
and of your love for all the holy ones,
I do not cease giving thanks for you,
remembering you in my prayers,
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,
may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation
resulting in knowledge of him.
May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened,
that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call,
what are the riches of glory
in his inheritance among the holy ones,
and what is the surpassing greatness of his power
for us who believe,
in accord with the exercise of his great might,
which he worked in Christ,
raising him from the dead
and seating him at his right hand in the heavens,
far above every principality, authority, power, and dominion,
and every name that is named
not only in this age but also in the one to come.
And he put all things beneath his feet
and gave him as head over all things to the Church,
which is his Body,
the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.
— The word of the Lord.
Ps 8: 2-3ab, 4-5, 6-7
O LORD, our LORD,
how glorious is your name over all the earth!
You have exalted your majesty above the heavens.
Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings
you have fashioned praise because of your foes.
When I behold your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars which you set in place—
What is man that you should be mindful of him,
or the son of man that you should care for him?
You have made him little less than the angels,
and crowned him with glory and honor.
You have given him rule over the works of your hands,
putting all things under his feet.
Alleluia, alleluia.
The Spirit of truth will testify to me, says the Lord, and you also will testify.
Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke (Lk 12: 8-12)
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I tell you,
everyone who acknowledges me before others
the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God.
But whoever denies me before others
will be denied before the angels of God.Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven,
but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit
will not be forgiven.
When they take you before synagogues and before rulers and authorities,
do not worry about how or what your defense will be
or about what you are to say.
For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment what you should say.”
— The Gospel of the Lord.
Second Letter of Saint Paul to Timothy (2 Tm 4: 10-17b)
Beloved:
Demas, enamored of the present world,
deserted me and went to Thessalonica,
Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.
Luke is the only one with me.
Get Mark and bring him with you,
for he is helpful to me in the ministry.
I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
When you come, bring the cloak I left with Carpus in Troas,
the papyrus rolls, and especially the parchments.
Alexander the coppersmith did me a great deal of harm;
the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.
You too be on guard against him,
for he has strongly resisted our preaching.
At my first defense no one appeared on my behalf,
but everyone deserted me.
May it not be held against them!
But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength,
so that through me the proclamation might be completed
and all the Gentiles might hear it.
— The word of the Lord.
Ps 145: 10-11, 12-13, 17-18
Let all your works give you thanks, O LORD,
and let your faithful ones bless you.
Let them discourse of the glory of your Kingdom
and speak of your might.
Making known to men your might
and the glorious splendor of your Kingdom.
Your Kingdom is a Kingdom for all ages,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
The LORD is just in all his ways
and holy in all his works.
The LORD is near to all who call upon him,
to all who call upon him in truth.
Alleluia, alleluia.
I chose you from the world, to go and bear fruit that will last, says the Lord.
Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke (Lk 10: 1-9)
The Lord Jesus appointed seventy-two disciples
whom he sent ahead of him in pairs
to every town and place he intended to visit.
He said to them,
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest
to send out laborers for his harvest.
Go on your way;
behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves.
Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals;
and greet no one along the way.
Into whatever house you enter,
first say,‘Peace to this household.’
If a peaceful person lives there,
your peace will rest on him;
but if not, it will return to you.
Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you,
for the laborer deserves payment.
Do not move about from one house to another.
Whatever town you enter and they welcome you,
eat what is set before you,
cure the sick in it and say to them,‘The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.’”
