Today January 23, the church celebrates the memory of Sainte Émérentienne ou Émérance.She lived on the Fourth century, slave because she is  the daughter of the wet-nurse of Sainte Agnès.

Émérentienne assists of the martyrdom of Agnès. Just after her death, she went to her tomb every day. Known as Christian, Émérentienne was lapidated while she was at the tomb of Agnes.She was buried next to Sainte Agnès in the Basilica Sainte-Agnès-hors-les-Murs in Rome.

A lot of church is dedicated to Sainte Agnès but Sainte Émérentienne is especially venerated in the department of Maine-et-Loire, among which are the chapel of La Pouëze (Maine-et-Loire) and the Institut Notre-Dame-de-la-Vie (Venasque). Sainte Emérentien is also the patroness of the municipality of Maisoncelles-du-Maine. She is represented by a young girl carrying stones in her apron in memory of her lapidation and summon in case of a stomachache.

Love and Salvation

Christmas is a great joy, because it is the love of God that has come to us, proclaims Fr. Bizimana Innocent, Provincial Superior of the Salesians Don Bosco of Madagascar and Mauritius, presenting his Christmas greetings. Salvation is accomplished, so life is not in danger of disappearing. It is this love and this salvation that we wish to fill our life so that we have peace.
