September 27th is the feast day of Saint Vincent de Paul, the island's second patron saint, who was a protector and an example of charity. He was only 19 years old and already a priest. The current situation in Madagascar is based on a policy of collection rather than charity or giving. The Church encourages all human beings to know how to share and give instead of being content to receive and collect.
