The first patron saint of the island of Madagascar is Marie Immaculée, celebrated every 8 December. September 27th is the feast day of Saint Vincent de Paul, the island's second patron saint, who was a protector and an example of charity. He was only 19 years old and already a priest. Charity is the character of God that Saint Vincent de Paul lived. Pope Francis is one of those who live this love for the poor, and he has even written a document in which he talks about the Church and poverty, entitled "Evangelii Gaudium".
If the poor are taken out of the Bible and not mentioned, the Gospel will be empty. The Church is a Church that is poor and for the poor and those who suffer. The current situation in Madagascar is based on a policy of collection rather than charity or giving. The Church encourages all human beings to know how to share and give instead of being content to receive and collect.
