Saturday, November 6, 2021 - Thirty-first week of Ordinary Time - Jesus Christ became poor, he who was rich, so that you might become rich through his poverty - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 16, 9-15

Jesus makes us think about whether in our life we will serve God or money. It is according to the use which each one makes of it that wealth is an evil or a good. Christ deplores the attitude of certain Pharisees, who obsessed with money, put God in the background. This obsession for wealth is also threatening us: we do everything we can to always earn and accumulate more, to the point that the family, and even God, go unnoticed. To do this, we pretend that life is hard. Certainly, money has its uses, but let this in no way obscure God, the one who gave us life.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, had no good in this life, and although he was Lord, he humbled himself to the rank of servants. He chose to be poor to teach us how to serve God. According to Saint Paul: "You know indeed the generous gift of our Lord Jesus Christ: he who is rich, he became poor for your sake, so that you might become rich through his poverty." (2 Cor 8, 9).
