Tuesday, November 2, 2021 - Commemoration of all the faithful departed - Come, blessed by my Father, receive as an inheritance the Kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 14, 1-6

On this day, the Church commemorates the faithful who have passed away. It is our duty to pray for the rest of their souls.

In this passage from the Gospel, Jesus leaves his disciples a farewell message, hence Thomas' question: "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?" Without giving a direct answer, Christ revealed himself: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life".

However, the disciples did not immediately grasp the meaning, but not that we Christians also. We often fail to embark on the path of truth that leads us to real life. By his gift of himself and by his death on the cross, Jesus paved the way for real life so that we may have the place that is intended for us.

To believe in Jesus is to believe in his death and resurrection, to believe that there is another life, the true one, beyond this life, to believe that he will receive us there. Also, let death not upset us so much, on the contrary, since it is God himself who awaits us. Let us now embark on the path to eternal life, namely Christ. He has commanded us to love one another, and that is the only way.

May the dead rest in peace by the mercy of God. Amen.

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth
