Thursday, October 14, 2021 - Twenty-eighth week of Ordinary Time - I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, says the Lord. No one goes to the Father without passing through me - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 11, 47-54

Today's Gospel denounces the hypocrisy of the ruling class in Israel. It seems that on the one hand, these people honor and remember the ancient prophets, but on the other hand, they keep persecuting the living prophets. At their word, they behave like the sons and disciples of these prophets, but seeing their deed, they are the sons of the persecutors of the prophets.

This message is also addressed to us Christians today: Christianity is not measured by speeches, but by the good works that we do; in other words, the true Christian is not one who says like Christ but rather one who lives like Him.

Another important and timely message from the gospel is that persecution and death are part of the prophet’s mission, for he is not sent to follow the whims of the people or just silently watch their vice. If a prophet is not persecuted, then he is a false prophet. This means that he did not pass on the Word of God, but sought words that only flatter his audience.
