Tuesday, October 5, 2021 - Twenty-seventh week of Ordinary Time - Happy are those who hear the word of God and keep it - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 10, 38-42

A friendly meeting, this is how we can qualify this meeting between Jesus, Mary and Martha. But the anguish is more pressing for Marthe, who cares to receive this guest with the respect that is due to her. Don't we do the same when we have to receive a distinguished guest?

The attitude of the sisters did not escape Jesus, on the one hand, Martha, busy and anxious to receive him as worthily as possible. While Mary, on the other, sat down at his feet and literally drank his words. According to Jesus, Mary chose the better part. It is not a question of denigrating Martha's occupations, nor that Jesus is a difficult and ungrateful guest: food for the body, as well as for the soul, is necessary. But Jesus gives priority to the nourishment of the soul.

Dear Christians, our world today is so flooded with noise, so it is necessary from time to time to isolate ourselves from this din and take the trouble to stand at Jesus' feet and listen to his word. Likewise, it is more than desirable to conduct a self-examination so as not to fall into the dizzying spiral of daily routine. May the breath of the Holy Spirit revive us so that we can add our faith to our actions. Amen.
