Wednesday July 7, 2021 - Fourteenth week of Ordinary Time - The reign of God is very near. Convert and Believe in the Gospel - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 10, 1-7

Dear Christians, behold, Jesus sent his disciples after he gave them the power to cast out unclean spirits and to heal all diseases and ill-being. That is, they can remove what is preventing God from reigning over mankind. They remove all pain and suffering so that people can serve God in peace.

The twelve are called "apostles", that is to say messengers. Everyone is called by name because they have different personalities. When the names of the apostles are cited in this way, Peter is named first, referring to his special status in the Church. Judas Iscariot is named last and "he who betrayed" is added. Indeed, loyalty is the most important thing.

Before going on a mission, however, one must be in union with Jesus, the only Savior. After all, salvation is the work of Jesus and we are only collaborating. The chosen people have priority and the already near kingdom of God is the essence of the mission. We see here the nature of the Church: One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic. Let us pray for the Pope, successor to Saint Peter, and for all the bishops who are successors of the apostles. May we be faithful co-workers with God. Amen.

With you, we take up Mary's song: ‘My soul exalts the Lord’ and we repeat with her: ‘What shall I repay the Lord for all the good he has done me?’....
