Tuesday April 27, 2021 - Fourth week of Paschal Time - My sheep listen to my voice, says the Lord; I know them, and they follow me - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 10, 22-30

"How long are you going to keep us going? If you are the Christ, tell us openly." The Jews asked Jesus this question because they still doubt whether Jesus is really the Christ who is sent to save Israel.

Some of them asked Jesus the question, even though they saw the miracles that Jesus did, even though they heard Jesus' teaching. They didn't want to believe. This is the reason why they ask this question: are you really the Christ? Their goal is to have an answer that suits them. This is why Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe."

Jesus is clear, he does not force anyone to believe in him. He respects our own freedom. God is love, Jesus is love and he says: "I and the Father are one." This is how his desire is for man to believe in God freely and with love. God respects our freedom and leaves us the choice to be part of his flock or not.

And Jesus clearly tells us that "my sheep listen to my voice, I know them and they follow me, I give them eternal life, they will never perish and no one will pluck them out of my hand." Let us then be among his sheep, docile sheep, who know how to listen to his voice and follow his path with love. In addition we must be sheep who know how to open our eyes to see the wonders of God in our life. Because often we refuse to believe the word of Christ and his works in our life, like the Jews of his time. Let us remember that whoever knows how to accept his word with faith will have real life.
