Tuesday, April 20, 2021 - Third week of Paschal Time - I am the bread of life, says the Lord, he who comes to me will never be hungry - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 6, 30-35

Today the gospel speaks of bread and Jesus uses it as a symbol to speak of himself. Bread reminds us of some important characteristics including:

Above all, bread is part of our daily life. it is found on the table almost every day. Usually, it is made from seed flour, an expression of simplicity and the essential. If Jesus considers himself bread, it means that he wants to be always with us on a daily basis and he wants to be the essential bread of our life.

Then the bread is the fruit of our daily labor. In this way Jesus lets us know that life is demanding, so we must get to work if we want love to overcome death; if we want our condition to improve.

Finally, the bread must be eaten and Jesus Christ offers himself to us to be eaten. This image shows us the journey of man according to God's plan: "To give oneself to the end, to nourish the people beside us with this love that we have received" as Jesus Himself did for us. on the cross.
