Monday March 1, 2021 - Second week of Lent - Your words, Lord, are spirit and they are life. You have the words of eternal life - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 6, 36-38

During Lent, God invites us to do something that sometimes seems impossible to us: love our enemies. What makes this gesture impossible is that the person we should love is right next to us: "our persecutors" who could be our neighbors, our teammates, our collaborators, or even members of our family. What makes this gesture imperative, Jesus gives us only one reason: because it is the sure way to imitate God who is merciful. On the how, Jesus shows us concrete gestures such as the availability to welcome and forgive our persecutors; offer them a space to introduce them into our life; do not judge them; do not condemn them. All of this means that we have to give them the opportunity to change; give them our trust and our love hoping that sooner or later they can change for the good, they can convert.

These gestures distinguish us as sons of merciful God. Even if it is naturally difficult to love our enemies, let us try by the grace of God and his assistance to accomplish this journey of forgiveness and love with small steps and let us try to read the history of the saints who have already walked this journey. way, forgiving their persecutors and their executioners, before dying.
