Friday January 29, 2021 - Third week in ordinary time - Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, you have revealed to the little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 4, 26-34

The sower of the seed whose Kingdom of Heaven on earth is none other than Jesus. By sowing seeds, it is hoped that they will germinate, flourish and bear fruit. Likewise, Jesus knows that the kingdom of heaven will gain its place and expand on earth. The seed grows and grows when the conditions are favorable: the seed already carries within itself its roots, its stem, its leaves, and especially the fruits which will be harvested. On the other hand, there is the fertile soil its moisture to receive the seed, the heat of the sun and the environment to produce the sown seed. The same goes for the Kingdom of Heaven. He already has the Love of God that he wants to transmit to us, the peace that he wants to give us, the happiness that he shares with us. This kingdom of God is secure because it lasts forever and we can have faith in it.

Happiness is the reason God created us, and it is what gives meaning to our life; we are not insignificant creatures who will disappear after this life, but Jesus will unite us in His Kingdom, where we will share happiness with Him. We can see this expansion of the Kingdom of God in the growth of the Church: it grows within itself like a seed: its roots, its stems, its leaves; but it also grows like the mustard seed which becomes a large tree on which birds can build their nests. This is even more obvious when reviewing the evolution of the Church from its origins: there were only the twelve disciples of Jesus. Currently, there are Christians following him all over the world. We do not therefore lean on a moth-eaten pillar by entrusting our life to the Church, this gigantic tree, with multiple branches under which we take shelter in the cool. The Church has the grace to increase her power, a power which comes to her from the dead and risen Christ. She has the Holy Spirit who nourishes her every day, making her the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Amen!
