Monday 4th January 2021 - Monday after the Epiphany - Jesus proclaimed the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healed every disease in the people - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to St. Matthew 4, 12-17. 23-25

Today's Gospel takes up the words of the prophet Isaiah: "The people who dwelt in darkness saw a great light." Jesus came among us to deliver us from sin and show us the way. Here, therefore, God still gives us time so that we can sanctify ourselves, be with him and help others.

The Christmas time we celebrated brought us out of sorrow and into a new life of joy. "The kingdom of heaven is near", that is, the kingdom of love and peace is near, and where we will find joy. But Jesus has given us a condition if we want to experience it: conversion. We need to change our lives and ways of thinking in order to be filled with the love of Jesus Christ.

The kingdom of love and peace is fulfilled in us through the work of Jesus. He preached the word of God and healed the sick so that they could experience true happiness. We see that He not only preached, but implemented what He announced. Therefore, if we want to continue the work of Jesus, we must do the same. It is not enough to preach the word of God, but today we must also act as an example. Thus, the path to holiness requires conversion. Preaching the word of God must go hand in hand with charity for those who suffer.

We thank you, God, for having delivered us from all evil and sickness so that we may be happy with you. Amen
