Monday, December 07, 2020 - 2nd week of Advent - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 5, 17-26 - He will come, the King, the Master of the earth; he will remove our bonds and deliver us.
Dear Christians, the Gospel reveals that while Jesus was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the Law were sitting around him. These same people then asked themselves inwardly: Who is he? He speaks blasphemies. First of all, let us point out that some people, in the audience here in front of Jesus or in the church or in our case on the radio, do not listen to the teaching, but spy on the actions of others: we will guard against this attitude.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that people were carrying a paralytic on a stretcher. Due to the large crowd they were forced to find another way. A lesson we can learn from this: this should be our attitude to bring the spiritually afflicted, the weak, the frustrated, the depressed, into the presence of God. There might be obstacles, such as slander and gossip, but we have to find a way, like those people who bring the paralytic. In other words, when we don't want to lose someone, we must always find a way to save them. Here, faced with the actions of these people, Jesus says: "Get up, take your stretcher". In other words, he no longer needs others but is responsible for himself, capable of taking care of himself without anyone because he has met God's mercy. We are therefore encouraged to help each other and to find the means to come to meet God, the result of which is joy, strength and a whole new life, as the end of this Gospel shows: "they gave glory to God".
