Thursday 03 December 2020 - 1st week of Advent - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 7, 21. 24-27 - Seek the Lord while he is found; call on him while he is near!
In simple terms, faith is attachment to God, it is devoting oneself body and soul to God. It is neither rhetorical persuasion nor demonstrative ratiocination, but a state of life. Words and deeds are inseparable, salvation is prayer lived in daily life. He who receives the Word and keeps it is wise. In other words, knowing how to live the present and build the future at the same time. Rain and storms will be the judges of construction and attachment, he who is well built and well anchored will not be shaken.
Jesus often criticised the behaviour of the Pharisees, a behaviour that can also pervert the Christian, preaching without acting. It is as if stone walls were built with sand foundations. This construction will not last, it will collapse and end in disaster and loss. We can talk in a hundred thousand words but the truth is unique: words followed by concrete actions. Saint Paul teaches in 1 Cor. 4, 20: "the kingdom of God does not consist in words, but in the ability to act". Amen.
