Saturday, October 31, 2020 - 30th week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 14, 1. 7-11 - Take my yoke upon you, become my disciples, says the Lord, for I am meek and humble of heart.

Saint Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, teaches us how important it is to proclaim Jesus wherever we are. The Apostle is overwhelmed with joy at seeing the progress of Christians in the faith. What matters to him is Jesus Christ, union with Him.

It is Saturday, often it is a feast day, especially for weddings. In weddings, we often notice the eagerness of the guests to choose "the place of honour", but Jesus, through this parable, teaches us to repress our pride in being seen in the first place. Here Jesus goes even further, in the sense that He is referring to the wedding feast, during which He is the Lamb who invites all believers. This wedding feast is celebrated during the liturgy of the Eucharist. We do not need to rush to get the best seats, but let us be concerned about being in communion with Him and contemplating the Spouse. It is in communion and contemplation that we will find our true place.
