Wednesday, June 10, 2020 - Tenth week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 5, 17-19 - Let me know your way, my God; lead me by your truth.
The words "Laws and Prophets" are terms used in the Old Testament to describe the nature of the relationship between God and His people. When Christ came, He did not abolish them, but rather perfected and fulfilled them through the commandment of love, which we determine by : "Love for God and neighbor." In the daily life of humanity, old things disappear when new things come. Man loves what is new and likes to continually change things, especially when he has some power. However, the word of God is constant and always valid. That is why Jesus said, "I have not come to abolish, but to fulfill." That is, we cannot act according to our own will, but rather seek God's will and abide by it.
Brothers and sisters, the Law and the Prophets trace God's love for us, so the Law is not an end but a means to help us live in perfect communion of life with God the Father and Jesus. And all the prophecies, made by all God's envoys, are to teach and correct us. Lord Jesus. Keeping the Law is the life of love that You have traced out for us, so help us to understand it and keep it as the apple of our eye. Amen.
