Dear brothers and sisters, today's Gospel still reminds us of the second part of the "Prayer of Christ the Priest". A prayer with a message. He has shown that He and the Father are one. He also expresses in prayer that he wants his disciples to be one. Jesus emphasizes that while He was among the disciples, He always sought to unite the disciples. He wants this to continue even when He is no longer in the world. This prayer, however, does not call for the withdrawal of the disciples from the world but for them to preserve and live the truth in the world to which they are sent.

But the reality is quite different: each one proclaims himself to be a Christian, claiming to be a disciple of Christ, but each one isolates himself in his own life. Some persecute and even hate each other to the point of murder. This prayer of Christ is also for us. Let us aim for unity. The Christian virtues are obscured when we do not seek true unity, communion. If only by reasoning we try to attain it, the truth in Christ will always be hidden from us. May the Holy Spirit, whom we have already received through baptism and whose descent on the Virgin Mary and the Apostles we will celebrate on the day of Pentecost, eradicate divisions and cultivate in us the perfect communion taught by Christ. Amen!

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth

At the end of its second General Assembly, held from 15 to 18 October 2024, the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace sent a message to government officials at all levels, as well as to all Malagasy and all people of goodwill.
