Wednesday, April 08, 2020 - Holy Wednesday - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 26, 14-25 - Hail, O Christ our King: obedient to the Father, like the lamb to the slaughter you let yourself be led to the cross.
In this passage of today's Gospel, Judas Iscariot is put in front, he who betrayed Jesus. Dear Christians, let us keep in mind that he who betrays God always ends up badly, just as Judas, filled with despair, ends up killing himself. An unworthy act that goes against the will of the Lord.
We too, each time we betray God, we participate even more in the torments and revive the wounds of Christ crucified. How often have we sworn and promised before God: by words, by the graces He has lavished on us, by the Sacraments? How many of these promises have we fulfilled? How many of these words have we kept? Let us not disappoint Jesus, the One who gave Himself to express His love for us. He loves us and wants to bring us into the house of the Father.
Let us make the effort to fight our weaknesses, especially our unfaithfulness to God, unfaithfulness to our neighbors. Jesus, make us disciples worthy of Your trust, worthy of the graces You lavish on us through and in the Church. Amen.
