Monday March 09, 2020 — Second week of Lent — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 6, 36-38 — Your words, Lord, are spirit and they are life. You have the word of eternal life.
It is true that everyone has his or her own character, but here Christ tells us to have the infinite goodness of God, namely mercy, forgiveness, objectivity and compassion. Saint John affirms that God is love, and here, Saint Luke stresses that God is merciful.Several times, the Christ reiterates this two attributes of God. He is perfect like the Father and he wants us to be, too.
In our humanity, we often go against what Christ wants us to be: we are wicked, impetuous, angry, quick to judge, resentful and vindictive, stingy, indifferent, sensitive... Lent is a time of conversion. Conversion begins with a change of behaviour, so it is urgent for us to meditate and make a decision to conform to the teaching of Christ.
