It is God's desire that all humans are brothers. Even, when we observe the commandments, it is futile without love. The commandments are subject to love: love for God and love for neighbour. This love between people is essential because it is new and greatest of the commandments. Prayer and offerings are in vain if the relationship between people is not well established: "When you go to the altar to offer your offering, if there you remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar, first go and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your offering".

Admittedly, it is not easy to truly love: it is difficult to forgive and forget despite the prayer we know: "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Yet, it is necessary for us to be able to forgive ourselves in order to hope for God's forgiveness.
