Thursday, March 17, 2022 — Second week of Lent — Blessed are those who have heard the Word in a good and generous heart, who retain it and bear fruit by their perseverance — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 16, 19-31

In telling this parable, Jesus Christ invites us first to know how to use our wealth, and then to convert.

The rich man is concerned with designer clothes for the feast he throws daily. This way of life prevents him from seeing the needs of his neighbors and above all, he has given no place to eternal life, it seems that he is closing in on himself, forgetting God and attention and respect. to the poor. This rich man is typical of those who put money and wealth in the place of God. Therefore, money is no longer a gift from God, but becomes an evil that impacts his fate in the hereafter.

We have also said that Jesus invites us to convert, but what type of conversion is this?

Once in heaven, the rich man implored Abraham to send someone to warn his brothers; to convert them. This rich person thinks that the conversion is the fruit of a spectacular miracle. But Abraham told us that the conversion willed by God: listening to and adhering to the historical testimony offered by God in Sacred Scripture (Moses and the prophets), in other words, Sacred Scripture constantly invites us to convert if we are attentive and to listening and if we put it into practice.

Also, let us ask the Lord for the ability to know how to use our wealth well and to live his Word, which urges us to accomplish only his will.
