Tuesday, March 1, 2022 — Eighth week of Ordinary Time — Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, you have revealed to the little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 10, 28-31

"Here we are, we left everything behind and followed you." By following Jesus the apostles wondered about their future. It seems they want to know their parts. This is a purely human concern. We Christians are already following Christ and we also have the same concern as that of the apostles: concern on our part. Because by carrying out our duty in the service of others, where we are, we often wonder what our share will be.

As humans, we seek immediate reward. But, here Jesus invites us to aim further: "Truly, I say to you, no one will have left house, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children or fields because of the Gospel, who does not receive the hundredfold now, in the present time, in house, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields, with persecutions, and, in the world to come, eternal life."

Jesus reminds us here that the true inheritance of the Christian is eternal life. It brings us back to what is most important, eternal life. But, while waiting for this true heritage, we must not believe that the Christian is condemned to misery in this world, in fact the grace of God provides for the real needs, and even more than we need, however this is not what should motivate the Christian. Let us ask God's grace every day so that it is his love that fills our hearts and not the desire for ephemeral things.

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth
