If we look at what is written, the question that should not arise is whether it is Saturday or Sunday that prayer can be done, for both are holy days of assembly. Baptism is the symbol of communion among the laity, even in the many branches that make up the Church, and encourages the laity to participate in the work of salvation. Lay people are all baptised Christians who have not received the sacrament of Holy Orders and who do not belong to a religious organisation approved by the Church. Lay people have dignity because they are part of the people of God with equal rights and dignity before God and the Church.
