The Old Testament is divided into 4 parts: the Pentateuch, the Historical Books, the Hagiographer-Wisdoms and the Prophets; the Psalms therefore belong to the third part, i.e. in the Books containing the Hagiographer-Wisdoms. The Psalms are one of the Books of Wisdom and are intended to impart skills and experiences. God is the author of the Bible, but humans work with him. In general, many observers say that David wrote the whole Psalm because he was a poet, a creator and a singer, he also had a talent for playing instruments and he loved prayer. In Hebrew, the book of Psalms is called ‘Sefer Tehillim’. The word ‘tehillim’ can simply be translated into Malagasy as ‘song of praise’. This ‘tehillim’ does not really interpret the Psalms and is not very satisfactory, because it says any song of praise, whatever form it takes; the word ‘Mizmor’ means rather a religious song... In prayer, there is always the necessary character and the required character; as Jesus said: if you pray, do not seek praise and do not say much, because the need for praise is the prayer of a hypocrite. The character required and necessary for prayer is humility. The attitude and mood necessary for those who pray are faithfulness and loyalty, a humble and joyful trust...
