Analyzed over a period of three days in the capital at the CNEAGR Nanisana the revisions of the national seed strategy, the law governing seed production, and the revitalization of the Malagasy Association for the Promotion of Seeds or AMPROSEM to have an innovation ...

It was a national conference on seeds organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock with financial and technical partners and all seed actors held in the capital.

The production of good quality seeds in our country is still low. Seed production by 2021 was around 2,000 tons, but the goal is to produce 20,000 tons in five years. This requires the mobilization of producer farmers to get involved in this seed production. Research, production and distribution will be strengthened as explained by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Ramilison Harifidy.

It is not the rice sector that is envisaged, but other crops that are widely produced to be self-sufficient, thanks to the use of improved seeds: such as cassava, maize, cereals, fruits and vegetables. The same seems to be the case for fodder crops intended to promote livestock farming, in particular the breeding of high-breed dairy cows.

The draft or TOR developed during the workshop will be presented to the Legislative Assembly for consideration and adoption, this one considered the improvement of the law on seeds made in the capital.
