October 4 is the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. The current Pope of the Catholic Church chose to use the name "Francis" when he reached the Holy See. St. Francis of Assisi was the son of a wealthy man during his lifetime, but at the age of 25, he chose a life of poverty, imitating Christ, to share grace with those in need and vulnerable. 04 October - Francis of Assisi, born Giovanni di Pietro Bernardone in Assisi in 1181, was the son of a rich merchant family in Umbria. At his birth, while his father was in France, his mother had him baptized under the name Giovanni (John). On returning from his trip, his father gave him the name Francesco (Francis).
03 October - Saint Gerard was born around 890 in Stave, a small village in the canton of Florennes. Through his father Sancius, Gerard was related to the family of the Duke of Austrasia, and through his mother, he was the nephew of Etienne, Bishop of Liège. Among other estates, Gerard's parents owned the land of Brogne.
At the end of its second General Assembly, held from 15 to 18 October 2024, the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace sent a message to government officials at all levels, as well as to all Malagasy and all people of goodwill.
