Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses of the face caused by a virus or bacteria; there are four types of these holes: the maxillary sinus, the ethmoidal sinus, the frontal sinus and the sphenoidal sinus. Other causes of sinusitis include diseases of the nose, throat and teeth, air pollution and a weakened immune system. There are two types of sinusitis: chronic and acute.
