An abdominal hernia is a protrusion of an organ through a cavity from which it should not protrude, or for a long time without it, and which is felt from the outside. The hernia forms a swelling of varying size on the wall of the abdomen, in the inguinal region; it may be barely visible or protrude only at certain times. Cooperative farmers Vary Manitra Diégo II or KOVAMADI-II, in Anivorano Auratha Antsiranana-II, are working and trying to produce fragrant rice. Productivity is booming thanks to the training courses organised for them by the SOA Network. The KOVAMADI-II cooperative can produce up to 200 tonnes of fragrant rice this year, according to its president, Mr Tombozara Patrice.
