In recent years, it has become a tradition for Catholic schools to organize a recollection for their students. Last March 19, the Don Bosco Ivato Oratorio School organized a spiritual retreat for its students.
The aim was to prepare them for the feast of Easter. During this time, a Sister responsible for the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians Center developed the theme on "Love of God and friendship" and "Who are my friends". The parable of the father who found his lost son and the story of St. Joseph, as a father, were among the examples illustrated. These facilitated the students' understanding of what they wanted to share with them during the conference. Although Jesus was not really Joseph's son, Joseph protected him from the dangers he was running into, raised him and, above all, loved him.
It was the same for the child who spent and squandered all his inheritance on futile things and became poor. But after becoming aware of his mistakes he returned home and was received by his father. All this was to tell the students that even though there are many human sins that we have done and we are touched also by the inheritance of Adam and Eve, God's love for His children is greater. But for this to be complete, everyone has a share of responsibility to repent and to set themselves on the right path. At the end of the conference, the students put together a small sketch to show the example of the Good Samaritan. Although each student interpreted the story of the Good Samaritan differently, we could see that in addition to their creativity, the message was well transmitted and received by the students. In addition to the fact that it also allowed them to discern for themselves who their true friends were. Let's just hope that the character of the Good Samaritan becomes their behaviour in daily life and that it is well engraved in them.
