The leaders (LEADS) of the Salesian Youth Movement (MSJ) of the Salesian Provinces of Don Bosco, with their Youth Ministry Delegates and the MSJ coordinators, participated last Saturday, July 31, at 2:30 p.m. Rome time , at the "PLAN LAUNCH" initiative (Project Launch).
The meeting was the first of its kind, carried out on the Zoom platform, and attended by 130 people, from California to Papua New Guinea. Simultaneous translations have been provided for the occasion in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English.
Alexis Pinare, who collaborates in the animation activities of the Vice-Province of Southern Africa (AFM), led the opening prayer. Then, Fr. Rafael Bejarano, of the Youth Ministry Sector, welcomed the participants, emphasizing the transcendental dimension in young people. The LEADS from the Inter-American, Latin America-Southern Cone, Africa-Madagascar, South Asia and East Asia Oceania Regions were presented to the assembly through a video presentation. Subsequently, Fr. Patrick Anthonyraj, of the MSJ Coordination, shared "The Why" of the program, recalling John Maxwell's quote: "Find your" why "and you will also find your way."
Subsequently, four young people representing different geographical realities - Thamyres Marques (America), Fabrice Faddy (Africa-Madagascar), Divya S. (South Asia), Teaghan Donlon (East Asia-Oceania) - shared their experiences in the MSJ during the path made last year.
Fr. Miguel Angel García Morcuende, General Councilor for Youth Ministry, who offered the "DIRECTORY" which records "THE JOURNEY - THE LEADERS - THE PLAN" of the MSJ, also intervened at the meeting. In his speech, the General Councilor strongly underlined that "the Salesian Youth Movement is open to all young people, not only to a few elected or selected young people, but to all: from young people in our schools to those who practice sport, from those who are in faith groups to those who are helped in the street ..., with a diversity of educational and pastoral proposals. "
Noah Rodrigues, active animator in the India-Panjim Province, (INP) then led the thanksgiving phase, and Janine and Fr. Victor, active in the East Asia-Oceania JSM, were honored to have directed the event. The final hymn to Don Bosco was sung by the young people of Chile.
The MSJ has a long way to go to reach even wider horizons, make a difference and have a meaningful impact in the lives of all young people.
