3rd Sunday - Year D, coming of the Lord: God never abandons, but loves; The Spirit of the Lord is within me: he has sent me to bring the good news to the poor. The third Sunday of the coming of the Lord is called ‘Joy Sunday’, and this is confirmed by the opening hymn for this Sunday, which says ‘Rejoice in the Lord always! Yes, I say rejoice still! for the Lord is near! The Philippians are a church founded by Saint Paul, who encouraged them to rejoice in the Lord always.
