March 16 — Benedict is a Clarean nun, that is to say, a disciple of St. Clare of Assisi. She joined the convent of San Damiano of Assisi in 1214.

In 1253, she succeeded St. Clare as Abbess of San Damiano. She directed her sisters with dignity and scrupulously guarded the inheritance of St. Francis and St. Clare, namely the spiritual life and the act of charity. Benedict died on March 16, 1260, in San Damiano.

Love and Salvation
