Sunday 16 April 2023 marked the Feast of the Mercy of God. The major basilicas of Rome: St John Lateran, St Peter's Vatican, St Mary Major, St Paul's Outside the Wall; these basilicas each have what is called a Holy Door, which opens in a special way when there is a Jubilee Year. These basilicas have an important role in offering the whole "indulgence"; called the altar of the Pope, he alone can celebrate Mass there.

Pope Boniface VIII, in the year 1300 gave the first name to the major basilica. The Church has constantly renewed the granting of the "indulgence" and there is the forgiveness of sins, there is the forgiveness of sins obtained by visiting the city of Rome (Basilica of the Apostles)...

A shrine is a holy place, where a pilgrimage is made. There are diocesan, national and international shrines. What can be done in this place is: spiritual retreat, formation, pilgrimage, prayer journey.
