Wednesday, November 3, 2021 - Thirty-first week of Ordinary Time - If you are insulted for the name of Christ, happy are you: the Spirit of God rests on you - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 14, 25-33

Life is a gift from God and Jesus shows us the way to live since the way in which we spend this life can open to us that which is eternal.

Jesus demands two things: first to accept to carry the cross which, in any case, does not mean enduring endless torture. It is rather a question of shedding our bad inclinations, of bending our own will to that of God. Then give up on yourself. Self-denial is in itself a cross that we must carry with love.

To follow Christ is not easy. Here, he does not prevent us from loving our loved ones, on the contrary, it is our duty to show them the greatest concern. However, let this not be an obstacle to follow him. In other words, what he asks is that he have the first and the best place in our life.

By invoking the man who wants to build a tower and the king who goes to war, Jesus invites us to be careful before making the decision to follow him so as not to fail along the way since this choice requires totally renouncing everything.

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth
