Salvation is a call addressed to all people. A call of which Christ is the center, so that we believe him, that we follow him and that we bear witness to him. From those who responded to this call, he chose twelve and gave them the name of Apostles, among them we find Simon and Jude that we celebrate on this day. They have set an example for us by responding favorably to God's call and fulfilling the mission for which they have been chosen in the Church.

These two apostles teach us that faith is not a mere verbal declaration, but an interior life of commitment, manifested externally by conduct in accordance with the will of God. Many say they are believers, many boast of being active, but what is it really? What impact does this have? How does this manifest itself? Do we have the courage and the audacity of these two apostles, accepting martyrdom, for the proclamation of the Gospel?

Our era needs apostles, just and faithful, to live and transmit the faith so that the presence of God is effective in our world.
