Sunday October 24, 2021 - Thirtieth Sunday of Ordinary Time - Our Savior, Christ Jesus, destroyed death, he made life shine through the Gospel - Mark 10, 46-52

This extract from the Gospel clearly reflects Christ who heals all human illnesses, in order to follow him better with confidence.

This gesture of Jesus, stopping his walk and calling Bartimaeus, is the proof that God is constantly listening to us, he is attentive to the voice of those who have recourse to him, despite the parasites that can interfere with our call, like this one. was the case of the crowd which silenced Bartimaeus. Always, Christ is available for us, it is enough for us to accept our blindness and to dare to implore him so that he heals us.

When he called Bartimaeus, the latter did not hesitate to leave the coat, which for him represents his home, because it is what protects him from the elements, it is the place where he treasures alms that we give it. Confident, he left what is his entire sustenance.

To follow God requires a lot of daring, it takes zeal and courage to leave everything in which we hold the most in order to put God above and above everything and hope for everything in him. Our problem is that despite God's leniency, it is difficult for us to separate ourselves from what we think we find happiness in. Like Bartimaeus, let us dare to leave everything for God.

Jesus' question closes the story: "What do you want me to do for you?". "May I regain my sight!" Bartimaeus believed that Jesus could heal him and it happened. It is not a simple belief in healing, but a faith that gave him the strength and love to follow Christ.

We need a firm faith, like that of Bartimaeus, so that Christ heals us of all the defects which blind us and prevent us from seeing him, which make us insensitive to his voice and above all which distracts us from his path. May God grant us the grace that allows us to truly follow Christ.
