Tuesday, October 12, 2021 - Feast of Blessed Jan Beyzym - A great prophet rose among us, and God visited his people - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 1, 40-45

Today's gospel tells of the story of a leper, who when healed becomes the herald of the gospel. This Gospel falls precisely on the feast of Blessed John Beyzim, apostle of the lepers of Maràna Fianarantsoa. We can draw three important lessons from this miraculous story operated by Jesus: first, with Jesus, everything that makes us fragile (illness, sin…) does not have the last word: "Efako ny zavatra amin'ilay mankahery ahy ".

Then, Jesus invites us to imitate him by touching these sick people without fear of being contaminated. In other words, we are invited to love the sick, to approach those who are considered unclean and excluded from society to integrate them into our society; to be recognized in their human dignity. It is in this sense that we manifest our humility, that is to say, it is in the recognition of the other as it is that we become humble before God as blessed Beyzim did.

Finally, we have the duty to help the sick to proclaim the Good News with their situation. This announcement will be impactful if we allow them to be touched by God Himself. With our sick, let's talk to them about Jesus; let us give them hope and the joy of believing; let us listen to their testimony.
