Monday October 4, 2021 - Twenty-seventh week of Ordinary Time - I give you a new commandment, says the Lord: "Love one another, as I have loved you." - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 10, 25-37

This doctor of the Law embodies the adage "sprinkler, watered". By asking Jesus a trick question: “Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”, He knew full well that the only way to eternal life is love. Not letting himself be fooled, Jesus only gave him one more question as an answer. A path with two parallel and complementary paths: love for God and love for neighbor.

To love God is to conform to his will and to observe his commandments in order to already glimpse the joy of being with him.

To love one's neighbor is to lead others to Jesus, so that they may be brothers and sisters in Christ for us.

Dear Christians, let us put into practice, in our daily life, the commandments of God so that we have access to eternal happiness.

On this same day, the Church particularly remembers Saint Francis of Assisi. Without question, we can say that his very life is a living Gospel, for like Christ he lived in poverty. Despite the prosperous lifestyle he led with his parents, he chose to live poor like Christ so that the Gospel might be fulfilled. In the joy and peace of penance, Saint Francis strove to love all men and all creation, a motto he passed on to his brothers and sisters and which has also come down to us. In short, the holiness of Francis is the fruit of a life in its simplest possible form. Simple certainly, but good, because in accordance with the will of God.

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth
