Sunday October 3, 2021 - Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time - If we love one another, God abides in us; in us his love reaches perfection - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Marka 10, 2-16

A saying says that men are similar to lianas, by dint of loosing, we see that they all come from the same root. The theme proposed by the Church for this Sunday reinforces this idea. With the three readings, today, allow us to answer the question: "How is it that humanity is of one and the same family?"

For the first reading, God is the only Creator of men. In creating them, he blessed a man to unite with a woman in order to procreate. In the second reading, we come from one and the same root, including God. He made us one big family. Through baptism we have become brothers and sisters, with Christ we are joint heirs of the Kingdom.

In the Gospel, marriage, the foundation of the family, has been part of God's plan from the beginning. Above all, Jesus wants couples to experience the uniqueness and indissolubility of marriage as well as consent to mutual love.

Dear Christians, it is unfortunate nowadays to see couples who separate, for various reasons, to the detriment of their innocent offspring. The dignity of the family is in danger, so let us turn to God and put our trust in him.

Lord Creator, it is you who lead us. Wherever we go, we trust you. Lord, listen to us. Lord, hear us. Amen.

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth

At the end of its second General Assembly, held from 15 to 18 October 2024, the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace sent a message to government officials at all levels, as well as to all Malagasy and all people of goodwill.
