Tuesday August 10, 2021 - Nineteenth week in Ordinary Time - He who follows me will not walk in darkness, says the Lord, he will have the light of life - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 12, 24-26

On this day, the Church celebrates Saint Lawrence, deacon, martyr. He implemented the words of Jesus that we have just heard: "If the grain of wheat that has fallen to the ground does not die, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Who loves his life therein loses; whoever breaks away from it in this world will keep it for eternal life ". He followed Christ, on him, he took an example in his ministry and above all by enduring what Christ endured, hence his martyrdom which earned him the glory of remaining with the one he loved and in who he gave his life.

Love is not a simple declaration, recited from the lips, but a communion of life leading to self-denial, making people accept what this implies for oneself. Such is the example of Saint Lawrence to bear witness to the true faith. Faith expresses our love for God and leads us on the path marked out and taken by Christ, so that we may be worthy of the place which is prepared for us with God, and that the word of Jesus may be fulfilled in us: " Where I am, there also will be my servant ".
