Thursday, January 16, 2020 — First week of Ordinary time — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 1, 40-45 — Teach me your way Lord, lead me by safe road.
In the jew society, lepers are considered unclean, so they could not live with the people. And even worse, leprosy is considered as a punishment from God. The lepers endure unimaginable suffering, on one side, the physical pain caused by the disease itself, on the other side, the social malaise due to the exclusion.
Feeling pity for this leper, Jesus accepted to touch him, even though it was within the Law. The God we serve is compassionate. This is reflected in Jesus' reaction to this leper. Sometimes, in times of distress, we think that God doesn't feel our suffering, or that He doesn't care about us. But the opposite is true because He created us in His image. He created perfect human beings, but through sin, we have lost that dignity.
The sin is considered as leprosy eating away at our life, so it is necessary to purify our soul as well as our whole life. The greatest danger we face today is to think that the sin is not one. It is often ourselves who decide in our conscience or thoughts what is sinful and who is not. But only God who can dictate our conscience the right to follow, the right to do, the wrong to flee
Therefore, to keep our life pure and dignified, we must examine us and repent of what goes against God's will.
