Friday, August 6, 2021-Celebration of the Transfiguration-This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, listen to him-Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 9, 2-10

This first Friday coincides with the celebration of the Transfiguration on the Mount. Nothing is a coincidence before God, but everything is predestined. God's love for us human beings is evident in God raising Christ to life, opening His Heart to be an inexhaustible source of His mercy. The Word of God now presented to us confirms this. It was a manifestation of His mercy that He chose three of the Twelve Apostles, Peter, James, and John, and took them, and carried them alone to the top of a high mountain, and changed. he was face to face. There was no jealousy of the others: why were we not taken. Often these three men are specially selected when they do something. It was not the three men who signed up as if they were gathered, or moved around as deaf sons-in-law to be taken personally, but by the Lord's personal choice.

The transfiguration of the Lord seems to be a type and beginning of His resurrection. This is confirmed by his clothes shining as white as snow, so that no cleaner on earth has been as white as snow, and the three men are forbidden to tell anyone what they have just seen until the Son is risen. People to live from the dead. We, too, on the day of our baptism become pure white as indicated by the clothing we wear, and we continue to wear that clothing in the sacraments we are going to receive later. But let it not be only the clothes but our whole lives so that we are not stained with sin.

The appearance of Elijah and Moses to them, and speaking with Jesus: bears two witnesses: the prophets, through Elijah and the law, through Moses. It also seems to mean that the Old Testament speaks of the same Jesus, both in the law and in the prophets. Jesus is the last word of God to us human beings. No more later. But it only confirms what all the later appearances have said. He is the beginning and the clearest revelation of the New Testament. Thus, the whole Bible appears here. So be careful that we are not deceived.

The Apostles were so stund that it bothered Peter to keep talking. It’s not that it’s bad but it has nothing to do with it. This is true when one is fully united and in communion with God: finding unspeakable and complete happiness. The self is completely forgotten. Wasn't the life of these Apostles already the beginning of heaven? Peter said, "It is good to be here. Let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." There have been many such experiences in the history of the Church. It was not a dream but it really happened.

But in addition to that appearance, there was the public declaration that Jesus was the Beloved Son of the Father. We need to listen to Him. Don't forget that the grace we received when we were baptized is the same, so don't shed worms on your head. May we not lose grace, but drink it continually in the Heart of Jesus. Amen.
