Thursday May 6, 2021 - Fifth week of Paschal Time - My sheep listen to my voice, says the Lord; I know them, and they follow me - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 15, 9-11

In short, today's Gospel speaks of Love. God is Love, and he alone is the source of love. It is only by his love that we can define him, because that is what he is. So let's take a closer look at Jesus' words.

As the Father loved me, so have I loved you. Throughout his life, Jesus made known the Father and his plan of love. He loved like the Father and he transmitted the Father's love to us. In human life, if a child lacks parental love, he will inevitably have difficulties in his sentimental life because there is a lack in his being.

Remain in my love: Jesus being only love, he is its source and his love is the measure of any other manifestation of love. In other words, it is through his love that we must love others and we also become love. To remain in his love is to keep his commandments and to keep these commandments is the real source of joy. In fact, abiding in his love is the key to eternal happiness.
